INDEX: GENUS / SPECIES
Following is a list of plant species I work with. The list mostly consists of species from around the world, typically those species I have encountered while living, traveling and working abroad. The list is ordered alphabetically by family, followed by the Latin name, then common name(s). The list is not complete, there are entries not yet linked and I am constantly adding species. I do not yet have photos and entries for some but most should have either an image or text or both. Eventually I will create additional indices with alternative organization (by common name, by family, by use, by geographical region of origin, etc.) to make everything as searchable as possible for the general public.
The search bar is also a useful way to navigate this site, especially if you’re looking for something general, such as “fruit”, or “ethnobotany”, or “tropical flora”, etc.

Do you grow or have access to all of the species on your species list? Some great looking stuff on there.
Yes I grow all that stuff .
By any chance do you know a fruit from the Bocca del Toro swamp area ( Panama ) that the locals call ” Sabdil “
I spent a few years living out there. I don’t recognize that name offhand. Any other description or alternative name?

I didn’t see arbutus on your species list – I wanted to send the info to a friend.
Yeah, I need to update the species list. There’s a lot that’s not on there, I’ll try to put up an arbutus article.
Thanks for visiting.

I’d be incredibly interested in getting seeds to Annona spraguei!!!! I love Annona and it is important to spread threatened ones like this around. I live in the Miami and have a permit to import seeds, so if you’d be willing to share somes seeds with me please contact me at davidgarcia899@gmail.com
I have a normal peru Lucuma obovata with 200g fruit. I am seeking seeds of one that has fruit 15cms wide and about one kilo fruit. Apparently they do exist in Peru and mountain in Columbia, perhaps also other part of South America. Please contact me at bentanemahuta@gmail.com
Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said
“You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the
shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and
it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off
topic but I had to tell someone!
