Clusiaceae (former Guttiferae), Garcinia madruno, Lemondrop Mangosteen, Bacuri, Madrono

June 19, 2009

The Garcinia species can be found cultivated in the areas throughout Amazonia, but is most abundant growing wild in its native range of eastern Amazonia. The tree prefers dry forests with sandy soils. Fruits are consumed fresh and widely appreciated. I collected, photographed and propagated it in Panama, Central America.
