Ceanothus dentatus, leaf and flower – Monterey, California

Ceanothus dentatus is a California endemic with small holly-like leaves and blue flowers. It grows primarily along the coast and just inland.

    I love all these Ceanothus you are finding Spencer….this one is like a wee jewel.

    I love this plant. While now living in Scotland, where for some funny reason this grows well, I see it and am reminded of my childhood in California.

      Yes, I believe it is quite popular in parts of Europe, I know many of the famous cultivars were developed in the UK, however I believe all wild Ceanothus species are from the West Coast of US with the most concentration in California.
