Farming the Woods

chrisdennisWe are sad to report that Cornell Student and Videographer Chris Dennis went missing last week while canoeing on Cayuga Lake while camping with friends. Despite a heartfelt search by friends, family, and community he has not been located.

Chris was a critical creative force in helping us produce media for this book and for our mushroom work through Cornell extension. He was also just a wonderful passionate student who was a real joy to be around.

I remember well the day we filmed this. It was rather cold. Chris was impressive in his ability to be both casual and professional – considering the limited amount of footage he took (not a lot) his skill in crafting compelling visual work is really impressive.     That is incredibly sad that someone so young should go missing and be presumed beyond help. Cheers for sharing this Spencer. We all need to remember people who go out on a limb for the rest of us and take life by the gonads and just “Live”.

    Thanks for taking the time to read the post. I don’t personally know Chris Dennis, but I am a fan of the Farming the Woods website (from which this was “reblogged”) and I had previously posted one of the forest farming – related videos he apparently filmed. And considering the general content of other agroecology / agroforestry oriented projects he has worked on in conjunction with Cornell he seems like a good human, thus unfortunate that he’s gone missing.
