View from an old prison window and along the exterior wall – Kefalonia, Greece

An old World War II era prison on the coast in Livadi, Kefalonia. I looked but couldn’t find much information about the history of the prison. Here are a few photos:

From the inside, looking out…

From the outside, looking along the sea-facing wall…

Just reading Captain Corelli’s Mandolin at the moment set in Greece in W.W.2. about the light in Greece and the wildflowers and your post is giving me a sense of place. Cheers

I haven’t read it, but Captain Corelli’s Mandolin is actually set on the island I’m on, Kefalonia, or Cephalonia. The movie (which I am told is horrible) was filmed here.

the movie was pretty dreadful but the scenery was incredible. In that respect they did justice to Kefalonia.
