Edward Abbey
March 13, 2011
Since putting together the post below on Charles Bowden I thought I’d continue and list other authors who I read and admire. Here is a great interview from Edward Abbey, I’ll be adding others soon.
Interview with Edward Abbey, from http://www.wiredforbooks.com. “In this 1986 interview with Don Swaim, Abbey speaks of growing up in a farm town outside Pittsburgh, his career as a writer, and his passion for the environment.”

Abbey was one of a kind. when he died I thought Many “Abbey’s” would surface and take up the torch. No one did. No writer has his courage or conviction. In the end we are doomed.
Agreed on all counts. However, if you haven’t read Charles Bowden I suggest you look him up. He’s not Edward abbey, but I would place him in similar ranking and of closely related genera.
Blue Desert is one of my favorite works but things are looking grim. Bass and Peacock are still around but they don’t “light em’ up!” like Cactus Ed.
maybe soon the “MWG” will be made into a movie and some young whippersnapper will get inspirered (peacefully of course).
