New vivero under construction
The Santa Familia building, formerly a catholic school, is a huge structure on the water off of Avenida A (between fourth and fifth street, I think). The space I will be using occupies a large internal courtyard and will be about four times larger than the Conservatorio vivero, thus allowing ample room for further diversification and larger scale production of some of the more promising species for the area. If I need more room beyond that there’s a spectacular full sun area on the roof with three hundred and sixty degree views of casco viejo, the causway, the puente de las americas, panama city and cerro ancon. Here is a photo of the space just before structures and plants go in. I’ll put another one up from the roof. There’s already a small mango tree full of fruit, if its a good variety I’ll graft it.
