Does the Ecuadorian nut vine have an edible “nut”?
Yes! its in the Euphorbiaceae family. Latin name is Plukenetia conophora. Its a long lived, heavy producing vine. Here’s a post with a more upclose photo. Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of the mature fruit, which is full of edible seeds. http://anthropogen.com/2008/03/06/ecuadorian-nut-vine-scientific-name-unknown/
Anything Euphorbiaceae that has edible properties is to be coveted Spencer. Euphorbiaceae grow on a hot tin roof with no soil ;). I might have to sell my first born (might wait till Monday, it’s his birthday tomorrow 😉 ) to see if I can get some seed 🙂
